Job Description

Summary

This job is for a supervisor who oversees a team of mechanics maintaining vehicles and equipment in the Indiana National Guard.

It involves planning work schedules, assigning tasks, managing training and leave, and occasionally performing hands-on maintenance to ensure readiness.

A good fit would be someone with strong leadership skills, experience in equipment repair, and a military background who can handle deadlines and inspections.

THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN CSMS 2, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1291000.

MILITARY GRADES: E9 through CW4 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.

Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.

Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

**FWS POSITIONS ONLY**: Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented.

Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.

If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application. Major Duties:

  • Planning: Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
  • Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.
  • Administration: Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment.
  • Performs non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc.
  • Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
