Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of engineers and scientists to design, develop, and test advanced missile systems for the U.S.

Navy, ensuring everything meets high standards for safety and performance from start to finish.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related scientific field (basic education requirement)
  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-13 or equivalent level in leading design, development, and testing of complex weapon systems
  • Professional engineering experience across multiple disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering
  • Supervisory skills, including team management, task assignment, priority setting, and performance evaluations
  • Ability to provide technical direction on safety, performance, reliability, and maintainability programs
  • Experience representing organizations in meetings with stakeholders, contractors, and senior management
  • Knowledge of government directives, policies, technical specifications, and contracts for hardware/software in missile systems

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Professional engineering experience leading the design, development, and testing of complex weapon systems across multiple engineering disciplines.

Major Duties:

  • You will oversee the development, design, and testing of complex missile system components, ensuring that all performance and reliability requirements are met throughout the system’s lifecycle.
  • You will manage and supervise a team of engineers, setting priorities, assigning tasks, and ensuring timely project completion, while providing guidance and conducting performance evaluations.
  • You will provide technical direction and coordination for safety, performance, reliability, and maintainability programs, ensuring the integration and application of these requirements across various engineering disciplines.
  • You will represent the organization in meetings with external stakeholders, including other government agencies, contractors, and senior management, making decisions that impact the development and performance of missile systems.
  • You will ensure compliance with government directives and policies, interpret technical specifications and contracts, and implement local standards for hardware and software applications related to missile systems.
