  • Effective communication skills for interacting with others, making presentations, and resolving conflicts

  • Knowledge of public administration principles, research techniques, statistical analysis, and systems analysis

Full Job Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs administrative, fiscal, program and data processing system analysis.
  • Gathers, tabulates and analyzes data from and works with representatives of other government agencies.
  • Develops workload indicators, charts and reports to make recommendations on procedures and program alternatives.
  • Reviews proposed legislation and advises management on the potential impact.
  • Makes decisions on financial and other administrative systems of average to difficult complexity.
  • Conducts research, analyzes existing departmental operations, and develops new systems and procedures.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to other staff.
  • Creates correspondence, prepares contracts and participates in grant writing activities and contract negotiations.
  • Facilitates Department compliance and implementation of federal and state plans.
  • Assists with development, evaluation, and implementation of policies, programs, and projects; may serve as a project leader.

SUPPORT SERVICES ANALYST I

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in public or business administration, data processing, economics, or a related area. Progressively responsible para-professional administrative experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

IDENTIFIED SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS IN THIS CLASSIFICATION WILL BE SUBJECT TO PRE-EMPLOYMENT, POST-ACCIDENT, REASONABLE SUSPICION, RANDOM AND RETURN-TO-DUTY DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE COUNTY OF MERCED DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING POLICY

SUPPORT SERVICES ANALYST II

Experience:
One (1) year experience equivalent to a Support Services Analyst I in Merced County.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in public or business administration, data processing, economics, or a related area. Additional directly related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.


IDENTIFIED SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS IN THIS CLASSIFICATION WILL BE SUBJECT TO PRE-EMPLOYMENT, POST-ACCIDENT, REASONABLE SUSPICION, RANDOM AND RETURN-TO-DUTY DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE COUNTY OF MERCED DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING POLICY

Qualifications

  • Operate a personal computer and other modern office equipment.
  • Establish and maintain filing systems.
  • Communicate effectively with others in person and over the telephone.
  • Create correspondence, spreadsheets, and presentation materials using various computer software programs.
  • Analyze data, interpret directions, procedures and regulations, and develop appropriate responses.
  • Perform job duties under stressful conditions.
  • Respond appropriately to situations.
  • Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or County regulations.
  • Make presentations.
  • Meet deadlines under stressful conditions.
  • Resolve conflicts and respond appropriately to complaints.
  • Complete multiple priority projects with conflicting deadlines.

  • Regular attendance is an essential function.

Knowledge of:
  • Principles, methods, and problems of public administration, organization, and management.
  • Research techniques, data collection and statistical analysis.
  • Basic principles and methods of administrative, organizational, fiscal, and data processing management.
  • Systems analysis.

Ability to:
  • Gather and analyze data, figures, and other various data.
  • Analyze, coordinate and integrate economic and demographic data.
  • Gather, organize, analyze, and present a variety of information and data.
  • Identify problems and issues and make recommendations for solutions.
