About the Position: This position is located at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA, Directorate of Dental, General Dentistry.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) ordering and monitoring the status of supplies, 2) utilizing automated supply systems to input or retrieve supply data, 3) and assisting visitors or telephone inquiries on supply problems and issues.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Supply Chain Management or Logistics.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for the complete inventory management of all items necessary to support the clinic to include all medical and dental equipment/supplies.
  • Ensure that appropriate item are ordered so that clinic operations are never hindered by a lack of supplies.
  • Examine received items carefully to note overages, shortages, or damage incurred in shipping/handling.
  • Distribute received item expeditiously and facilitate proper storage/usage.
  • Utilize automated supply systems in order to input, extract, and maintain supply transactions and records.
