To qualify for a Supply Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: Expert-level knowledge of DoD supply regulations and experience interpreting this policy to provide authoritative guidance to distribution centers and high-level officials.

Demonstrated experience in project management, leading teams to conduct management improvement studies, efficiency reviews, and economic or business case analyses to recommend changes in supply chain operations.

Experience serving as a liaison and subject matter expert during internal and external audits, including providing and interpreting complex data related to distribution and supply systems.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a senior Supply Management Specialist, developing and executing supply operations while providing technical advice on material management regulations, policies, and procedures at the command level.
  • Acts as a team lead for lower-graded supply specialists, performing complex functions to resolve problems and formulate plans for new missions, initiatives, or corrective actions in distribution.
  • Considered an authority on DoD regulations, leading management improvement studies and conducting efficiency reviews to recommend changes in layouts, resources, and systems.
  • Manages special projects, internal and external audits, and develops processes for materiel accounting, including monitoring Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) and other distribution processes.
  • Functions as a central point of contact for customer requirements and deals directly with officials from MSCs, DLA, DoD IG, GAO, and various audit agencies, ensuring information is accurate.
  • Plans work for subordinates, sets priorities, and evaluates performance.
