Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team that designs, runs, and evaluates military simulations and experiments to test strategies and improve operations for the U.S. Transportation Command.

Full Job Description

This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Analyze and assess complex strategic issues and clearly articulate solutions and findings to leadership across various agencies.

Planning, coordinating, and assessing command-sponsored wargames and/or establishing policies and procedures for accomplishment of wargaming.

Advising employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

As a SUPERVISORY WARGAMES PROGRAM SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Wargames and Experimentation Branch ensuring that experimentation activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.

Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of wargaming, concept development, experimentation, and joint doctrine.

Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

Coordinates and supports command participation in Department of War, Military Service (Title X), Joint Staff, combatant command and Allied/Partner Nation wargames when invited/directed.

Provides advice to Directorate and command leadership on recommendations for new capabilities or for adapting existing capabilities through changes to doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, facilities and/or policy.

Participates in contract administration ensuring compliance with contractual and funding processes and procedures used in the development and delivery of products and services.
