This job involves leading and overseeing supply chain operations in a Veterans Affairs health care system, acting as a backup to the top supply chain officer to ensure everything from purchasing supplies to managing inventory runs smoothly and efficiently.
It requires coordinating teams, planning budgets, and reviewing processes to meet the logistical needs of medical facilities.

The Supervisory Supply Management Specialist -Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer (ACSCO), serves as the alternate to the Facility Chief Supply Chain Officer (FCSCO) and is assigned continuing responsibility for managing a major part of the Logistics Service in the supply chain management (SCM) program with the direction and opinion of this role having the same authority given to the Service Chief.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/05/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Specialized Experience: Applicants who are current Federal employees must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist.
Specialized experience includes, serving as a supply chain management leader/supervisor, responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program.
Areas of knowledge and skill should include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations; experience assisting with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures.
At this level, candidates should possess experience in overseeing and managing a group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors.
NOTE: One (1) full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Major Duties:
This position serves as the Logistics Management Specialist - Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer (ACSCO), assisting the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) with the development and integration of a supply chain that ensures the logistical requirement of the VA Health Care Systems and supported catchment areas are met.
Major duties and responsibilities include: Oversees, guides, manages and integrates supply chain operations across the organization; Plans and coordinates fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations; Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain; Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews; Manages all activities involved in the supply chain management to include sourcing, procurement and logistics management activities; Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a cohesive and high performing business model; Forecast planning and budget execution for supplies, subsistence, durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non-expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution; Leads and/or participates in regular meetings, ensuring logistics needs and requirements are being met; Performs other related duties as assigned Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
