About the Position: This position is with the Defense Commissary Agency, Ansbach Commissary located in Ansbach, Germany.

The incumbent serves as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store, responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Customer Service: working all phases of front end customer service department, 2) Financial Accountability: monitoring register cash flow, reviewing financial reports related to cash accountability, and loading money into tills, 3) Teller: performing teller duties, running diagnostics on electronic registers, and reconciling monetary items and 4) Leadership: reviewing front-line work for accuracy.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Financial Accountability Teller Leadership Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Direct and control the operations and personnel of the commissary front end customer service department.
  • Monitor and supervise all register transactions.
  • Modify schedules based on personnel capabilities, planned and emergency leave schedules, and position vacancies.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates.
  • Identify training needs and work to ensure the needs are met.
  • Respond to customer questions and issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Complete, review and file a variety of forms and reports which account for daily operations which serve as control records for the receipt and deposit of all transactions - electronic or cash.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of front end area and operations to ensure compliance with local safety, fire, security, and sanitation regulations and procedures.
