This job involves leading a team of social workers in a program that helps veterans with substance use disorders through intensive outpatient care, including providing therapy, supervision, and program management.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited.
A doctoral degree in social work may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in social work.

Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.

Grade Determinations: In addition to meeting the basic requirements stated above, the following qualifications criteria must be met in determining the appropriate grade assignment of candidates.
GS-13 Supervisory Social Worker candidates must have the following: Education and Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment.
Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Applicants with Florida LCSW, to qualify for APL Qualified Supervision Delegation, QSCSW must be on licensure.

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Supervisory Social Worker-Substance Use Disorder/Intensive Outpatient Program (SUD/IOP) serves as the Manager for the SUD/IOP Program in the VACHCS.
They are responsible for the direct supervision of all professional behavioral health staff assigned to the SUD/IOP program.
The Social Worker has direct administrative responsibilities over the day-to-day operation of this program in alignment with the guidelines set forth in the Uniform Mental Health handbook of the program.
Must be a licensed social worker to practice independently in the provision of social work services, consulting, and providing clinical supervision to trainees as appropriate.
The social worker for whom this functional statement applies is administratively assigned to the Mental Health and Behavioral Health Sciences Service and responds to the PCMHI & Specialty Care Clinics (SUD & MHTRC) Section Chief, with regards to the administrative and clinical duties as manager of the SUD/IOP Program.
Additional duties include but not limited to: Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to patients.
