Full Job Description

The Supervisory Security Specialist (Branch Chief) provides leadership and oversight of the Judiciary's nationwide physical security program, advancing Judicial Conference policies and the priorities of the Committee on Judicial Security.

The position directs policy development, manages security initiatives and resources, leads professional staff, and coordinates with courts and key partners including the U.S.

Marshals Service, Federal Protective Service, and General Services Administration. Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below.

This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position.

Specialized experience must demonstrate experience in ALL areas defined below: Leading and managing a team of physical security professionals.

Planning, developing, and evaluating security programs to ensure program operations meet established interagency security committee standards.

Developing and implementing national policies, standards, and countermeasures to address evolving threats.

Collaborating with interagency partners and local, state, and federal public safety and security agencies. Major Duties:

The Administrative Office of the U.S.

Courts (AO), Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Facilities and Security Office (FSO), Judiciary Security Division (JSD) is seeking a dynamic, high energy, exceptional leader to serve as Supervisory Security Specialist (Branch Chief) of the Physical Security Branch (PSD).

This position reports to the Deputy Chief of JSD.

The JSD provides subject matter expertise to the Judicial Conference (JCUS) and serves as staff to the Judicial Conference Security Committee, including supporting the JCUS in their development of security priorities for the Judicial Branch.

The PSD assists the Unites States Marshal Service (USMS) and other government agencies appropriated for the procurement, installation, and maintenance of security equipment and protective services for the United States Courts.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Advancing the Judiciary's nationwide physical security program in accordance with JCUS policies, and in alignment with the initiatives and priorities of the JCUS Committee on Judicial Security and the Judiciary's Vulnerability Management Program.

Directing and overseeing the Judiciary's physical security program and developing and implementing national policies, standards, and countermeasures to address evolving threats.

Leading and mentoring a team of highly skilled physical security professionals; and ensuring effective performance, professional development, and alignment with mission objectives.

Serving as the primary liaison with the USMS, Federal Protective Service, and General Services Administration, resolving complex project challenges, and ensuring seamless execution of courthouse security initiatives nationwide.

Providing expert guidance to the Judiciary, Administrative Office leadership, and Judicial Conference committees on security risks, policy development, and programmatic priorities.

Establishing long- and short-term goals for the security program, collaborating with Resource Management staff to oversee a multi-million-dollar budget, and contributing to the formulation of the annual court security appropriation.

Coordinating directly with judges, Probation and Pretrial Services, Federal Defenders, and Judiciary Security Officers to address security concerns, deconflict competing requirements, and drive timely project completion.

Representing the Judiciary at professional conferences, interagency working groups, national security forums, and advancing the Judiciary's interests and sharing subject-matter expertise.

Developing and disseminating policies, guidance, and training opportunities to courts nationwide to strengthen awareness and compliance with physical security programs.

Acting on behalf of the JSD Chief or Deputy Chief in meetings, ensuring alignment of branch activities with the Judiciary's overall mission and strategic objectives.
