Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage the physical safety and security of a government finance center's employees and buildings in New Orleans, including setting up access systems and working with law enforcement.

Full Job Description

This position is located in the National Finance Center, Office of the Director, Administrative Management Staff (AMS), Security and Planning Office (SPO), Physical Security Team (PST).

The incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of the National Finance Center's employees and facilities.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Specialized Experience GS-13: Have at least one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 level in Federal Service or equivalent responsibility in the private sector/pay systems that equipped me with the competencies to successfully perform as a Physical Security Specialist.

Such experience includes: 1) Plans, administers, develops and implements the physical security program, to include standardizing guidelines and procedures, and developing and training standards for OCFO New Orleans personnel; 2) Supervises others by planning, directing, prioritizing work, monitoring progress, and meeting organizational goals; 3) Manages the Enterprise Physical Access System (EPACS), Lenel Security Systems, and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD- 12) program for the agency - to include the Alternate Worksite used for continuity events; 4) Manages the safety and security of the agency's employees, customers, and facilities; and 5) Collaborates and liaise with local law enforcement, Federal Protection Officers, Protection Service Officers, and other various agency security personnel.

Time in grade: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

Applicants must have on year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the higher grade (e.g.

one year at the GS-12 grade level for consideration for the GS-13 grade level). This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
