Summary

This job involves leading a team of security support staff in a U.S.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to 22nd Security Forces Squadron.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-0086-07.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service for Current or Prior Federal employees, or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level for External Candidates.

Examples of specialized experience includes practical knowledge of security programs that comply with legal and regulatory requirements; Knowledge of security community systems and applications to give needed guidance or training to customers to prevent problem from recuring and to assist more experienced specialists in resolving very complex problems; Knowledge of LAN/WAN principles and practices sufficient to troubleshoot and maintain the stability of communication lines and equipment.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

Current and Prior Federal: One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.

External Applicants: One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.

TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Ability to conduct assessments, devise solutions to problems, identify changes and trends, prepare and present information to leadership and communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.

Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

Knowledge of DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM policy requirements, which are used to formulate an integrated security program which meets regulatory requirements and reduces vulnerabilities; knowledge of LAN/WAN principles and practices sufficient to troubleshoot and maintain the stability of communication lines and equipment.

Knowledge of network principles, concepts, equipment, and tools sufficient to assist in planning and maintaining network services; to install, test, and configure workstations and peripherals; and to instruct customers in accessing network services.

Knowledge of security community systems and applications to give needed guidance or training to customers to prevent problem recurrences and to assist more experienced specialists in resolving very complex problems.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; ability to develop user manuals and instructions and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to include training of systems users or operators.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 22 SFS/S5PV Visitor Control Section and 22 SFS/S5PC Pass and Registration, ensuring that functional work area complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities; represents 22 SFS/S5P Visitor Control Center and Pass and Registration with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

Program Manager for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS), and Kansas Department of Revenue Driver and Vehicle Identification System (KDOT).

Serves as the Base Security Systems Officer.

Coordinates and monitors the installation Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) program in accordance with established regulations, policy, and procedures.

Program manager for the installation Law Enforcement Safety Act program (LEOSA).
