Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serve as a Supervisory Police Officer with the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Riley, KS.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Coordinating patrol activities for a law enforcement agency; 2) Conducting investigations related to law enforcement such as: traffic accidents, theft and/or vandalization of property; 3) Providing guidance on law enforcement policies; 4) Performing administrative functions for a law enforcement agency such as: overseeing daily police activity, reviewing crime and accident reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Major Duties:

  • Supervises a staff of military and civilian law enforcement officers that specialize in traffic investigation.
  • Develops and implements traffic plans, programs and surveys.
  • Prepares traffic accident investigations and writes technical reports of investigative findings.
  • Coordinates with local, state and federal law enforcement authorities regarding legal issues, traffic accident investigation techniques, equipment utilization and other liaison matters related to traffic activities.
  • Maintains status of patrols, to include location, assigned mission and capabilities.
