The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the multi-faceted School Age Program for youth in the Hanscom AFB military community ranging in ages 5-12 years.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-05 to GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems.

Specialized experience is to lead and oversee a high-visibility School Age Care program, providing day-to-day supervision of staff by setting priorities, assigning and reviewing work, coaching performance, resolving employee issues, and strengthen training and development to improve quality and productivity.

Plan, organize, and direct safe, developmentally appropriate youth programs and special events that support the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of children while ensuring compliance with DoD requirements and maintaining certification and national accreditation standards.

Manage risk and readiness by enforcing health, safety, and security requirements, conducting inspections, correcting deficiencies, and coordinating facility and food service compliance.

Execute sound business management by developing and monitoring budgets, maintaining accurate records and cash controls, producing quantitative and narrative reports, and using evaluation tools to improve or eliminate ineffective programs.

Build trusted partnership with parents and installation stakeholders to resolve issues, enhance customer service, and drive sustained program performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Professional knowledge of child and youth development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of children and youth. 2.

Knowledge of DoD certification, Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), 4-H, and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards. 3.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Food Services regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and requirements, and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Playground guidelines.

4. Skill in compiling and composing both quantitative and narrative reports, based on analyzing data and circumstances. 5.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to large sized organization. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major Duties:

1. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. 2.

Develops, coordinates, and implements activities, programs, and special events, consistent with program objectives and in accordance with health, safety, and security standards for the School Age Care program.

3. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the School Age Care program ensuring that the program complies with legal and regulatory requirements, and meets customer needs. 4.

Monitors training of staff and volunteers according to established policies and procedures. 5. Represents the School Age Care program with a veriety of installation and functional area organizations.
