Full Job Description

This position is with the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Program located at Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York.

FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families.

Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Qualified candidates will possess the following: knowledge of a wide range of recreation and sports activities organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities, AND a basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding of supplies and equipment, AND the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English), AND work experience or education directly relating to the duties to be performed.

Major Duties:

  • Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
  • Works in executing recreation events, programs and services to meet the recreational needs of a diverse patronage, including a variety of multi disciplinary events, i.e., social activities, tournaments and other major programs.
  • Recommends items of supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.
  • Assists with training new personnel.
  • Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.
