Summary

This job involves leading a team as the Assistant Chief for Fire Prevention in the Air National Guard, where you'll plan and coordinate inspections of base facilities to spot and fix fire hazards, and run training programs to educate people on preventing fires.

It's a supervisory role focused on keeping a military base safe from fire risks in a high-risk area.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on firefighting experience who enjoys leading others and organizing safety programs.

Key Requirements

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR, Position Description Number T6302000 and is part of the 174TH ATKW, National Guard.

This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Veterans' preference does not apply to this vacancy due to internal merit promotion.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 30 months experience, education, or training in one or more of the following areas: (1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade.

(2) Rescue operations. (3) Detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards. (4) Operation of fire communications equipment. (5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents.

(6) Developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention (7) Firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques; (8) Fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operation.

(9) Planning, directing, or carrying out fire protection and prevention programs and operations and/or (10) Performing emergency medical services.

Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

  • As a SUPERVISORY FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR (GS-0081-10) the primary purpose of this position is to serve as Assistant Chief for Fire Prevention planning, directing, and coordinating all activities of the technical services program including a comprehensive inspection program of all on-base facilities to detect and eliminate hazards in a high fire expectancy area, and a base-wide population motivation training program in fire prevention.
