About the position: This position is located at the Automotive Complex, 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB Japan.
Primary Responsibility of this position is to performs as the Automotive Complex Assistant Director and manage the overall operation of the Automotive Complex program under the supervision of the Skills Center Director.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Ability to use computer software to monitor sales, inventory, accounting, timekeeping, etc. Must be well versed in cash handling procedures.
Specialized Experience: In addition to General Experience, applicant must have minimum of 6 months managerial experience.
Must have progressively responsible work experience or extensive training in automotive or automotive retail operations, demonstrates ability to perform the duties of the position.
Must have general experience/knowledge of automotive equipment, i.e., wheel alignment systems, lifts, tire machines, brake lathes, battery chargers, JCI machines, and other basic power and hand tools.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of general business principles, financial planning, and be able to understand and analyze financial statements. Knowledge of EPA rules and regulations.
Tow truck license desirable but not required. Condition(s) of Employment: Successful completion and favorable adjudication of background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.
A valid 4EJ driver's permit is required. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty, including nights and weekends. Major Duties:
The incumbent oversees all aspects of automotive repairs, JCI inspections, ordering/receiving resale/supply inventory, scheduling customer repairs, Driver's Education Program.
This position will also provide technical assistance, skills development instruction, and professional mechanical services in the operation of equipment such as, but not limited to, engine analyzer, brake lathe, and tire balancer.
Develops and administers work schedules for NAF, IHA, MLC, contracted services/instructors, and volunteers. Provides regular performance feedback and annual evaluations.
Approves/disapproves leave request. Initiates personnel actions and disciplinary actions. Interviews and selects applicants. Responsible for effectively resolving employee and customer dissatisfaction.
Assists the Skills Center Director with the budget creation, to include capital expenditure requirements, short and long-term planning, and contracting of services.
Reviews and takes appropriate action to ensure monthly financial goals are met.
Supervises assigned personnel and accomplishes personnel management duties IAW NAF guidance, EEO policy, FSS and AF guidance.
Provides on the job training in proper cash handling procedures, shop operating instructions, specific customer procedures, shop safety training and basic automotive service information.
Develops and initiates programs that are responsive to base population needs, interests, and supports mission readiness.
Develops marketing materials such as: flyers, posters and announcements, to promote activities/programs. Serves as Primary Facility Hazardous Waste Manager, Building Custodian, and Equipment Custodian.
Additional responsibilities are equipment maintenance, building upkeep, property custodian for NAF and APF assets, and other related duties as assigned.
Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty, including nights and weekends. "This is a drug tested designated position.
