Full Job Description

The office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense Programs (OASW (CBRND)) supports a comprehensive strategic framework for management and oversight of the Department's CBRN Defense Programs.

The incumbent will serve as subject matter expert and senior advisor providing professional and technical coordination, analysis, policy development, implementation, and oversight to the DASW (CBRND).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the NH-0343-IV level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-0343-III grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates knowledge of Research, Development and Acquisitions as an advisor providing professional and technical coordination, analysis, policy development, implementation, and oversight to include aspects of research, development, portfolio analysis and acquisition for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense and the associate infrastructure.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  • Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Lead and direct a team that conducts assessments, develops strategic guidance, and provides advisement to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (DASW(CBRND)) on all research, development, and acquisition priorities and functions across the full spectrum of the capability portfolio management and acquisition processes, from basic research through development and procurement; Evaluate current and new legislation and Government policies to determine impacts on the defense industry; Oversee Test and Evaluation Infrastructure assessment and management in support of CPM processes and outputs; and Maintain liaison on policy, and program issues with the Joint Staff, Director of Cost Assessment and Program Analysis (CAPE), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), OSW Research and Engineering (R&E), the Military Services, and other offices within DoW.
