Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to plan and oversee maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for electrical and electronic systems on Trident class submarines, ensuring all work is properly documented and coordinated to meet naval deadlines.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in technical planning for ship repairs, strong leadership skills to guide a team, and knowledge of submarine components like weapons and communication systems.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent, including developing technical work documents (TWDs) and controlled work packages (CWPs) for submarine refits
  • Proficiency in accessing technical data, performing shipchecks, researching materials, determining work scope, estimating manhours, and creating test procedures
  • Supervisory experience providing technical direction to ensure consistent planning products that meet quality assurance and project integration needs
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical/electronic submarine systems, including strategic weapons, fire control, sonar, communication, and noise/vibration monitoring
  • Experience with supply systems for identifying, requisitioning, and resolving material issues to support branch personnel
  • Ability to supervise production control functions, plan subordinate work, set priorities, evaluate performance, and identify training needs
  • Familiarity with intermediate and depot-level maintenance for non-nuclear shipboard systems on Trident class submarines

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS) in the CODE 420 MAINTENANCE PLANNING DIVISION, PLANNING DEPARTMENT of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH DEVELOPING TECHNICAL WORK DOCUMENTS (TWDs) AND CONTROLLED WORK PACKAGES (CWPs) TO INCLUDE: ACCESSING TECHNICAL DATA, PERFORMING SHIPCHECKS, RESEARCHING MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS/AVAILABILITY, DETERMINING SCOPE OF WORK, ESTIMATING MANHOUR REQUIREMENTS AND DEVELOPING TEST PROCEDURES IN ORDER TO PREPARE TWDs FOR SUBMARINE REFIT PERIODS.

SUPERVISION AND TECHNICAL DIRECTION TO BRANCH PERSONNEL TO ENSURE ALL PLANNING PRODUCTS (TWD/CWP) ARE PREPARED IN A CONSISTENT MANNER, INVOKING APPLICABLE TECHNICAL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS, AND ARE COORDINATED/INTEGRATED INTO NUMEROUS PROJECTS TO MEET BOTH LONG- & SHORT-TERM GOALS.

EXPERIENCE WITH ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS SUCH AS RUBBER, PLASTICS, PERISCOPES, HABITABILITY, SOC/DDS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, STRATEGIC WEAPONS SYSTEMS, FIRE CONTROL, CONVENTIONAL WEAPONS, SHIPS COMMUNICATION, NOISE VIBRATION AND MONITORING, SONAR SYSTEMS, COMMUNICATION AND INDICATION SYSTEMS.

EXPERIENCE WITH SUPPLY SYSTEM AND MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP TO BRANCH PERSONNEL IN IDENTIFYING, REQUISITIONING AND RESOLVING MATERIAL ISSUES.

  • You will provide supervision over short- and long-term production control functions regarding maintenance requirements.
  • You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • You will evaluate work performance of subordinates.
  • You will identify developmental and training needs of employees.
  • You will provide comprehensive waterfront services in support of intermediate and depot-level modification, overhaul, repair, alteration, and manufacture of TRIDENT Class submarines non-nuclear shipboard systems.
