The primary purpose of this position is to exercise 2nd level supervisory/managerial authorities over subordinate personnel in the 88 SFS/S3. Serves as Asst Ops Officer.

Responsible for overall ops, planning, admin, supervision, & direction of the org. Develops policies/procedures for accomplishment of assigned security & law enforcement organizational mission.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements for Police Series 0083.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) in Federal service or equivalent in other pay systems.

Specialized experience is experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

Knowledge of law enforcement and anti-terrorism theories, principles, methods, techniques, and practices to establish policies and procedures and administer a comprehensive security/law enforcement protection program.

2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. 4.

Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5.

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to operate and direct others in operating under stressful and dangerous conditions. 7.

Ability to formulate and effectively implement special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls and preventing unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities.

Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot patrols in and around buildings.

This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue and detain uncooperative suspects.

In addition, this position requires the ability to employ "infantry" small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to employ "Active Shooter" response tactics as a member of a small team.

LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: If the duties, activities, or responsibilities of this position require the employee to do one or more of the following: use firearms or ammunition; sell or dispose of firearms or ammunition; receive, possess, ship or transport firearms; or other duties, activities or responsibilities covered by the Gun Control Act (Title 18, U.S.C., § 922), and you have been convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence, then you are not eligible for this position.

Candidates selected for this position will be required to certify they have not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence prior to assuming the duties of the position.

False or fraudulent information provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title 18, U.S.C., § 1001) and may result in removal from federal service.

Additional Conditions of Employment: 1. Required to obtain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually. 2.

Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations.

Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g.

Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required). 4.

IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.

Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release. 5.

Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by functional; certificate from a Federally recognized Law Enforcement Academy is preferred. 6.

Will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties. 7. This position may be designated as a Key Position IAW AFI 36-607.

Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.

Incumbents of key position must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available. Major Duties:

Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 88 Security Forces organization. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organizational objectives.

Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors.

Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher level management or headquarters. Performs and enforces the full range of police officer duties within the military installation.

Incumbents have full powers of apprehension and detention. Represents the Security Forces Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
