About the Position: Serves as a first-line supervisor responsible for planning, directing, and reviewing the activities of personnel engaged in the protection and enforcement of a government facility and the property thereon.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves leading police officers at scenes; coordinating emergency responses; ensuring patrols are in compliance with police standard operating procedures; observing or responding to reports of crime; or gathering facts or evidence during investigations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Supervise law enforcement personnel, providing leadership in operational settings and conducting administrative actions to effectively direct and maintain an efficient organization.
  • Oversee police station operations, assign work and process reports.
  • Conduct traffic and security patrols to enforce federal, state, Department of Defense, Department of the Army and local regulations.
  • Investigate traffic accidents and interview subjects with knowledge of the accident or incident.
  • Respond to and investigate offenses against persons and property.
  • Question and apprehend suspects utilizing the appropriate level of authorized force.
