Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of police officers and overseeing law enforcement and security operations at an Army installation in Alaska, including planning programs, managing staff, and advising leaders on security matters.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Incumbent exercises full delegated authority in assisting the Provost Marshal in planning, organizing, supervising, coordinating, providing guidance for, and/or evaluating all activities pertaining to law enforcement and physical security operations.

Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties that demonstrate knowledge of laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.

Performing specific duties such as directing elements of law enforcement operations; supervising and critiquing the training of law enforcement personnel; providing guidance based on a broad range of knowledge of law enforcement laws and regulations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Major Duties:

  • Develops law enforcement programs and operating plans for the installation and is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the operations of the Division.
  • Plans for current and long-range operations based on workload trends and projected requirements. Develops methods and procedures affecting overall operations and tasks subordinate supervisors.
  • Advises top-level installation managers on law enforcement issues impacting them and develops mutually acceptable solutions to problems.
  • Through subordinate supervisors, directs the activities of civilian, military, and contract law enforcement personnel to include monitoring progress of major projects.
  • Conducts delegated civilian personnel management responsibilities. Initiates, recommends and/or approves personnel actions involving key managers and staff personnel.
