Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE, PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience supervising the performance of technical radiological control work while exercising and applying a broad knowledge of that portion of the Health Physics field relating to radiological monitoring/control.

*Experience planning and assigning work of subordinate staff to meet radiological coverage schedules on a daily or weekly basis.

*Experience coordinating work with other first line supervisors within the code to ensure proper radiological coverage in all assigned areas and to work out job priorities and procedures to be used where overlap occurs.

*Experience preparing or directing the preparation of all reports and other required radiological control documents related to work assignments and staff assigned.

*Experience determining training and staffing requirements for various evolutions and controlled areas.

  • You will review overall work operations in an assigned control area involving personnel exposure to ionizing radiation.
  • You will investigate problems and questions affecting project operations and negotiate necessary changes.
  • You will develop input on radiological control requirements to be used during special jobs, assuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • You will conduct continuing surveillance of work involving radiological controls and radioactive materials to ensure adherence to establish policies, procedures, and sound radiological control concepts.
