Base salary range: $74,441 - $96,770
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-11. Advanced degree + significant experience.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team of engineers to oversee the safe refueling of nuclear reactors on naval ships, including designing equipment, creating procedures, and ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.
It also includes managing staff, handling complaints, and providing on-site support during operations.
A good fit would be an experienced nuclear engineer with supervisory skills who thrives in high-stakes, technical environments like shipyards.
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Equipment Branch (Code 2370.22), the Nuclear Refueling Engineering Division (2370) In the Nuclear Enginnering and Planning Department (Code 2300) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience refueling equipment: Engineering Preparation, Design and Specification, Issue of Fabrication, Testing, Equipment, Checkout and Modification Instructions.
Experience issuing instructions for troubleshooting and resolution of problems. Experience providing onsite job support and management oversight to various support training and operations.
Experience preparing procedures, standards. specifications, quality inspection requirements and radiological control requirements.
