The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Air Force Inspection Agency.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for GS-0301, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes (1) Providing advice and support to leadership across the entire spectrum of agency activities including communications, manpower, and personnel services; (2) Delivering management oversight for day-to-day activities of an organizational unit; (3) Serving as personnel advisor to agency leadership on sensitive personnel matters; (4) Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates including setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.
Knowledge of a wide range of manpower concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of personnel (civilian and military) concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of Services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; and practical knowledge of education, readiness, and budget execution concepts, principles, operations, and practices.
2. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to planning/programming/budgeting, and coordinating activities.
Knowledge of budgeting cycles; financial systems and restrictions on expenditure of funds and standard contracting regulations. 3.
Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of analysis, assessment, planning, management, monitoring and evaluations as well as principles and methods for developing and coordinating analytical and budgetary reports.
4. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. 6.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Mission Support Directorate, ensuring that civilian and military personnel programs, Communications and Information programs, and Facility Management Programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents the Air Force Inspection Agency and the Directorate with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Directs and executes the Agency's Senior Leader Management Office (SLMO) Program. Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments.
