Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Tucson Field Office, Mission Support Division, Workforce Management, located in Tucson, Arizona.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Analyzing and resolving problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative processes by reviewing procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing approved changes.

Preparing and maintaining reports, records, and statistics by collecting data, documenting casework, and ensuring compliance with established guidelines and deadlines.

Coordinating with other organizational supervisors and peers to establish unit objectives, goals, priorities, and deadlines, and to formulate plans to meet substantial changes in workload.

Resolving complaints and grievances that can be addressed at the local level and making recommendations for solutions to those referred to the next organizational level.

Making decisions and resolving problems that require interpretation of law or involve complex situations requiring interpretation and application of Office of Field Operations (OFO) policies.

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to management.

In this Supervisory Mission Support Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals analyzing and refining existing work methods and developing new methods and procedures.

Typical work assignments include: Serving as a supervisor to a group of administrative employees who are responsible for assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations or who analyze and resolve problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative support and staff activities.

Developing and prescribing procedures and techniques and furnishing policy guidance to subordinates.

Providing complex administrative services, including, but not limited to, management and information systems, budget, finance, procurement, personnel, telecommunications, logistics, records and files, printing, mail, travel, and office equipment.
