Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading and analyzing programs at the U.S.

Border Patrol Academy, focusing on improving operations, advising senior leaders on budgets, personnel, and resources, and developing policies to meet organizational goals.

It's a supervisory role in a federal law enforcement training setting in New Mexico.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Training and Development, U.S.

Border Patrol Academy, located in Artesia, NM.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applying various qualitative and quantitative methods to assess and improve program effectiveness.

Providing expert advice, guidance, implementation, coordination, and direction on a wide range of CBP administrative programs, functions and operational issues.

Providing advice to senior management on significant issues, additional resources and problems related to procurement, budget, personnel, fleet, staffing and work accomplishments and goals.

Developing and evaluating SOP's and policies in assigned program areas such as travel, payroll (BPETS/GovTA), operational budget, fleet, personnel and taking necessary actions to achieve organizational objectives.

Creating, managing, and interpreting complex information databases to produce quality management and program performance metrics.

This position starts at a salary of $125,776.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $163,514.00 (GS-14, Step 10) Major duties: Providing advice, assistance, and guidance to supervisors, managers, and employees on a variety of complex and sensitive administrative issues and administrative processes such as performance management, budget, procurement and management analysis.

Planning, developing, conducting, and coordinating management and special studies; providing technical assistance and support to senior leadership and staff for the daily execution of operations and training programs, including validating training records.

Providing expert analytical support and advice on problem definition, planning, execution methodologies, policies, and procedures based on higher headquarters guidance, alongside coordinating unit goals and reviewing work and submissions for substance, conformance, and completeness.

Directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing sophisticated management information systems for long and short-range plans, policies, and programs, including training, human resources, budgets, and decision-making.

Directing and planning work, setting priorities, preparing schedules, determining resource requirements, recommending awards, approving leave, appraising performance, and holding employees accountable for work assignments.
