Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage and protect computer systems and networks from cyber threats in a military setting, ensuring everything runs securely and efficiently.

Examples of experience demonstrating this competency include: Monitoring and assessing initial implementation to confirm intended effects are realized and objectives are achieved. 2.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintaining close and productive working relationships with senior-level colleagues. 3.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Examples of experience demonstrating this competency include: Documenting and communicating decisions including endorsement by higher echelons as indicated by nature of issues. 4.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Examples of experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying potential chokepoints or problem areas, and developing workable solutions.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have qualifying experience such as: -Experience analyzing workload, determining priorities and assigning tasks and redirection to subordinates.

-Experience making recommendations for authorizations to operate an information system or network in a specified security mode and confirm that the residual risk is within acceptable or unacceptable limits.

-Experience applying critical thinking when external direction or policy requires interpretation.

-Experience reviewing and directing the collection of actionable metrics on the effectiveness and efficiency of both shared and internal work processes and formulating means to improve.

-Experience evaluating, implementing and disseminating industry cybersecurity processes, policies and best practices for information systems, sites, applications, and networks.

This position is within the Work Category SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT at Work Level SENIOR, Series and Grade GG-2210-14.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Navy Authorizing Official (NAO) Directorate at U.S. Fleet Cyber Command (USFLTCYBERCOM or FCC).
  • You will exercise IT technical and analytical skills to execute the FCC Commander’s authority as the Authorizing Official (AO) for all Navy networks, information systems, and services under FCC purview.
  • You will apply expert knowledge of Navy IT systems’ designs and operations and demonstrated ability to apply cybersecurity and operational risk management, such as the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • You will review identified vulnerabilities or adversary threats with potential for adverse effects on the security and integrity of deployed IT systems.
  • You will use analytical methods and make authoritative decisions to resolve highly complex, sensitive, or ambiguous challenges, including those requiring interactions with higher echelons and external customers.
  • You will demonstrate operational risk management and cybersecurity function in accordance with DoD and Navy Risk Management Framework (RMF) and related directives, policies and instructions.
