About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S.

Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the JOINT ACTIVITIES, INTELLIGENCE BRIGADE, (JIB) HEADQUARTERS, FORT BRAGG, NC.

Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Experience providing guidance in different focus areas of Intelligence Operations such as Plans and Exercises; Organizational Training; Current Operations; Force Management; and/or Recruiting.

AND 2) Experience managing a diverse workforce to include enlisted personnel, contractors, and federal civilian government employees and provide guidance in order to accomplish collective programs and missions.

AND 3) Experience supporting Intelligence program planning, development and evaluation to execute world-wide missions and directives.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS -13) Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations.

This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled.

This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Intelligence Operations Intelligence Staff Management Intelligence Strategic Planning Major Duties:

  • As the Deputy Director of the Brigade Operations Section, fully shares the direction of all phases of the organizations support to operational programs and work and is assigned continuing responsibility for managing a major portion of the operations.
  • Directs the work and focus of the Brigade operations leaders and provides guidance and direction as required, to individuals in order to accomplish respective and collective programs and missions.
  • Leads, manages, and is responsible for the Joint service military, federal civilians, contractors, and augmentee employees assigned to the Brigade Operations Section's focus areas.
  • Interviews candidates for positions within the Operations section and recommends selection for non-supervisory positions, evaluates performance of staff members, makes decisions relating to their training needs and requests.
  • Plans, coordinates, manages, directs, executes, and/or reviews activities for assigned areas of responsibility and has full authority for the Brigade Operations Director.
  • Provides technical advice to the Operations Director, Brigade Deputy Commander, Brigade Commander, and other staff sections concerning operations, program planning, development, execution, and evaluation.
