Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of IT professionals to manage and improve the technology infrastructure for the U.S.

Department of the Treasury, including planning budgets, hiring staff, and ensuring systems run smoothly.

It's a high-level supervisory role focused on overseeing the design, maintenance, and updates of IT services.

A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in IT management, strong leadership skills, and a background in government or large-scale tech operations.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Departmental Offices,Treasury Common Services Center, Office of the Deputy Administrator for Technology Services.

As a/an SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST, you will serve as the Infrastructure Engineering manager and manages, coordinates, assigns and oversees work of federal and contractor staff who are engaged in the management, development, and maintenance of infrastructure services .

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position includes: - Experience with Technology Business Management or other methodology for description and valuation of IT services.; AND - Experience in information systems life cycle management and development concepts, technologies and practices such as requirements management, design and development, testing, quality assurance, configuration management, and implementation.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

Major Duties:

As a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST, you will: Develop, implement and oversee the deployment of the IT Infrastructure architecture.

Coordinate work with Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure consistency of goals and objectives.

Formulate and execute budget requirements including initiating and managing procurement activities to obtain the best value for the government and ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.

Initiate and direct special studies to test, adjust, or improve existing systems or services, or devise and implement new systems and services of great complexity.

Hire, retain and develop a staff that is capable of meeting its mission of providing architectural, engineering and administration support of all IT Infrastructure services.
