Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a Supervisory Trade and Industry Analyst in the Bureau of Industry and Security within the Department of Commerce.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

This experience need not have been in the federal government.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify at the GS-15 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as: Providing policy guidance in the development and implementation of business and industry programs related to foreign inbound and outbound investment, including Committee for Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), critical technologies, and/ or economic issues; and Developing analytical assessments, technical materials, and written products to support foreign inbound and outbound investment programs, including CFIUS reviews; and Representing an organization in discussions with government agencies, senior level business, industry, academic officials, and/or congressional staff and committees.

Major Duties:

As a Supervisory Trade and Industry Analyst, you will perform the following duties: Prepares plans to meet substantial changes in workload and proposes and justifies revisions in employee staffing, priorities in work assignments and deadlines.

Defines and institutes new methods and strategies to meet key agency requirements and program objectives and oversees staff who participate in fulfilling these requirements and objectives.

Provides regulatory or oversight coverage which extends to most or all government agencies or private sector entities involved in the U.S.

industrial base, critical technologies, and economic and trade issues.

Represents the bureau as an authority and spokesperson to other government agencies, to top business and industry officials and to significant congressional staff and committees.
