Summary

This job involves overseeing the daily operations of a dental clinic at a military medical center, including managing staff schedules, ensuring smooth patient care, and handling administrative tasks to keep everything running efficiently.

About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing administrative activities on matters pertaining to the delivery of dental health care to patients; utilizing automated systems to enter and retrieve data; and distributing workload among employees within a medical or dental facility.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, healthcare management, dental sciences, human resources, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Manage master calendar for clinic, capturing all scheduled staff absences and critical events, to reschedule resources as necessary and avoid possible negative effects on patient care opportunity.
  • Provide supervision over employees such as Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, Treatment and Purchase Care Coordinators assigned to the Dental clinic.
  • Implement clinic program policies and regulatory guidance to maintain quality dental health care.
  • Monitor clinic workload accuracy and accountability to achieve timeliness of workload submission and reporting.
  • Provide procedural and administrative assistance to assigned clinic staff, to support them in providing quality patient care.
