Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of data experts at a federal health agency to analyze healthcare information and create strategies that improve Medicare and Medicaid programs.

You'll guide data collection, identify program strengths and weaknesses, and build tools to support better decision-making in healthcare delivery.

Full Job Description

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), Policy and Programs Group (PPG), Division of Data Analytics.

As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist (Division Director), GS-0107-15, you will manage a diverse team of data professionals.

In order to qualify for the GS-15 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Analyzing healthcare data from multiple sources to inform decision-making; AND 2) Developing data-driven solutions to business problems; AND 3) Recommending analytic strategies to support value-based care planning and program management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.

  • Provide expert direction to the team in the identification and proactive analysis of center-wide data across multiple models to enable structured data collection and analysis for ongoing program management and optimization.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets, and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Develop and conduct analyses of the strengths and gaps in CMMI's portfolio of initiatives with respect to HHS and CMS goals, target populations and services, and levels of risk, in order to inform strategic decision-making for the Center.
  • Responsible for the creation and ongoing sustainment of CMMI business intelligence needed to support portfolio strategy, management, and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships through mutual understanding of providers' needs and concerns
