Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the WATERFRONT SUPPORT DIVISION, CODE 121.3 of PSNS and IMF.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and prioritizing the sequence, direction, and progress of ship or submarine overhaul, repair, or maintenance for efficient and accurate completion of engineering projects.

  • You will use individual initiative, anticipation of problems, persuasiveness, originality, and innovative thinking, in addition to your sound engineering training, to successfully complete tasks.
  • You will predict manning and funds expenditure curves in consideration of time and schedule constraints, and resources available.
  • You will assign and review work and assure that production and accuracy requirements are met.
  • You will give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • You will find ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
  • You will provide significant and innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods.
  • You will coordinate across organizational lines within all Shipyard departments and with various Headquarters and contractor representatives on technical projects.
  • You will anticipate and resolve major problems that occur during a ship’s overhaul.
