Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of engineers to oversee maintenance, repairs, and minor construction for facilities at a Marine Corps base in Georgia, acting as an expert advisor on engineering issues to base leaders.

It requires broad knowledge in various engineering fields to handle complex systems like HVAC, electrical, and energy projects while managing staff and ensuring everything meets standards.

A good fit would be an experienced engineer with supervisory skills, a passion for facility management in a military or government setting, and the ability to juggle technical work with team leadership.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent in professional engineering across multiple disciplines (architectural, civil, mechanical, structural, electrical)
  • Expertise in evaluating and repairing complex systems including high-voltage, gas, water, steam, HVAC, and commercial-scale facilities
  • Ability to develop project documentation, technical reports, and supporting calculations for maintenance and energy programs

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the Engineering Section, Public Works Branch, Installation and Environment Division (IE) of MCLB ALBANY GA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: demonstrating professional engineering knowledge across multiple disciplines-including architectural, civil, mechanical, structural, and electrical-with the ability to provide advanced facility maintenance for major production facilities.

Applying technical expertise to evaluate complex maintenance and repair requirements, develop project documentation, and generate comprehensive technical reports with supporting calculations for high-voltage, gas, water, steam, HVAC, and commercial-scale systems.

Utilizing multi-disciplinary approaches to plan, fund, and execute critical repairs and energy programs, including DoD energy contracts, renewable energy projects, and smart grid systems, while ensuring compliance with facility standards and space utilization guidelines.

  • You will serve as staff advisor and consultant on engineering problems the Public Works Officer to the Installation Commander and other installation activities.
  • You will plan, organize, and direct the operation and accomplishment of assigned activities.
  • You will direct and manage the maintenance, repair, and minor construction of real property facilities.
  • You will administer the personnel management program for all assigned activities.
  • You will coordinate division activities with those of other installation activities such as with procurement on purchases or contract projects.
