Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of firefighters at a naval air station in California, overseeing fire suppression efforts for aircraft, buildings, and hazardous materials while ensuring safety protocols are followed.

It requires hands-on experience in firefighting and training others to handle emergencies effectively.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE SUPRESSION DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR STATION LEMOORE.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, practices, and techniques applicable to fire protection elements involving fire prevention, aircraft, structural, ordinance and shipboard firefighting; 2) Training personnel in fire protection and prevention; and 3) Managing a hazardous materials protection and control program; and 4) Performing supervisory duties such as managing, organizing, directing, providing technical leadership and guidance, assigning and prioritizing work, position management, evaluating work performance of subordinates and resolving disciplinary issues.

This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter, current CPR Card and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Basic.

These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.

  • You will train personnel in fire protection and prevention.
  • You will provide technical guidance; identify training needs; interview and select candidates for vacancies; recommend promotions; approve leave; recommend awards and resolve disciplinary issues.
