Summary

This job involves leading a team of fire inspectors at a naval air station, where you'll create training programs, conduct safety checks, and investigate fires to prevent hazards.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the FIRE PREVENTION DIVISION of NAVAL AIR STATION FALLON.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing training for all areas of Fire and Emergency Services (i.e., structural firefighting, shipboard firefighting, aircraft firefighting, wildland firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency medical care); 2) Conducting inspections to ensure training objectives are being accomplished; 3) Ensuring safety guidelines are being implemented across all fire stations; 4) Identifying safety deficiencies and/or recommending corrective action.

NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume.

This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-10: Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor II, Hazmat Incident Commander, and Airport Firefighter.

These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement.

If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.

  • You will develop a fire protection or fire prevention program for a fire department.
  • You will identify hazards that require modification to a fire prevention or fire protection program.
  • You will administer a fire protection/prevention training program (e.g., structural firefighting, aircraft crash and rescue response and fire prevention) for a fire department.
  • You will direct the physical inspection of facilities to detect or reduce potential fire hazards.
  • You will investigate fires to determine cause and origin of fire (e.g., due to poor housekeeping, unsafe installations, improper materials, unsafe industrial practices, arson).
  • You will assign Fire Prevention Inspectors for maximum efficiency and utilization of inspector resources.
