Full Job Description

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training (OASET).

This position personally serves as the principal Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training and is accountable for the full range of executive-level confidential advisory and administrative support functions.

Specialized Experience GS-14 Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13 in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Qualifying experience is described as the following, you must meet all of the following: Experience providing support to senior level executives, or equivalent, with managing human resources functions, managing calendars, travel logistics, and coordinating high-level meetings; Experience developing correspondence, reports, briefings, and/or technical guidance; Experience setting goals, managing projects, tracking progress, and evaluating outcomes; and Experience identifying issues, determining possible solutions, and making recommendations regarding administrative issues.

Major duties for this position are listed below: Serves as the primary confidential assistant to the Assistant Secretary on matters of high sensitivity and political significance.

Ensures that the Assistant Secretary is fully briefed on all critical issues, emerging developments, and urgent matters affecting ETA programs and Departmental priorities.

Coordinates with program offices, the Office of the Secretary, Congressional Affairs, Public Affairs, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate responses.

Exercises first-line supervisory authority over administrative staff performing executive support, program analysis, correspondence control, scheduling, and administrative management functions.

Incumbent serves as a confidential employee under 5 USC 7112(b)

in that during the normal performance of their duties will have access to confidential information and a component of their daily duties will be as a confidential assistant to the agency head in the performance of their Administrative Officer role.

Incumbent may be required to be certified as Level I, Level II, or Level III, in the contracting career field as defined in the Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting (FAC-COR).
