Full Job Description

Serves as the Environmental Management Manager (Chief) for the Environmental and Health Services at Stennis Space Center.

Manages environmental compliance, stewardship, and regulatory engagement across the Center.

Directs Center-wide environmental programs, advises leadership on environmental risks and requirements; oversees permitting and audits, and ensures operations meet all federal, state, local, and Agency environmental standards while advancing sustainability and mission readiness Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Leading environmental programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and NASA environmental regulations; Overseeing environmental audits, permitting, and response actions across an organization or center; Developing Center-level environmental policies, strategies, and risk-mitigation plans.

  • Direct Center-wide environmental programs ensuring compliance with federal, state, and NASA environmental requirements.
  • Provide functional leadership, policy, planning, and coordination for organizational sustainability, environmental compliance, environmental planning, environmental conservation, and environmental justice issues to enable agency mission success.
  • Manage hazardous materials, hazardous waste operations, and incident response oversight.
  • Advise Center leadership on environmental risks, mitigation strategies, and regulatory impacts.
  • Represent the Center in cross-Agency, interagency, and regulatory coordination.
  • Oversee environmental data systems, metrics, and performance reporting.
  • Supervise staff, develop workforce capabilities, and manage program resources.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
