This job involves leading a team of technicians to plan, test, and certify complex ship systems at a naval shipyard, ensuring everything from hulls to electrical components works safely and efficiently on both conventional and nuclear vessels.

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Test Engineering Division (Code 246) for the Chief Engineer (Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the 12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing technical guidance on the installation, maintenance, repair or operations of shipboard systems and equipment. (e.g.
hull, mechanical and electrical). Experience directing and managing the identification, development and execution of an integrated test program for large-scale complex ship availability.
Experience providing expert technical and engineering advice in details of construction and operation of complex shipboard systems on a variety of vessel classes of conventional and nuclear ships.
Experience in methods and techniques of electrical, mechanical and structural engineering sufficient to consider overall aspects of testing and evaluation of ships systems.
Experience developing project criteria, assessing project performance and resolving novel problems and issues. Experience providing formal certification of ship readiness.
AND Experience serving as the technical authority for component system testing, work authorization, tagout and test program management as would be acquired through a minimum of six years of experience in the technical direction of HM&E test programs, work control or testing of nuclear vessels or experience as ACTE on two nuclear vessel availabilities.
