Full Job Description

This position is located in Region One's Response Division.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in logistics operations and be skilled in managing and supervising personnel, projects, and major programs.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.

The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Supervising internal stakeholders and/or leading external stakeholders; and Planning, coordinating, or evaluating logistical support; and Executing logistics for day-to-day or disaster operations.

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will serve as the Logistics Branch Chief, leading a team of Logistics Management Specialists who perform work that involves planning, coordinating, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission or other designated program and the execution of these programs in support of day-to-day and disaster operations.

Typical assignments include: Overseeing the analysis and advice to management on the effectiveness of logistics programs and operations.

Overseeing the analysis of the productivity and efficiency of organization and resource utilization that support regional logistics.

Identifying and integrating significant internal and external program, policies, procedures, practices and systems that may affect the region in all areas of logistics management (i.e., supply, maintenance, transportation full provisions for manufactured housing units, training, organizing and equipping deployable teams).

Providing subordinates the requirements and descriptions of the work to be performed and tracks progress.

Advising, counseling, and instructing employees on both technical work and administrative matters. What else do I need to know?

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
