Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-0089-13, Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S.

Coast Guard, USCG MARINE SAFETY UNIT PORT ARTHUR in PORT ARTHUR, Texas.

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Developing, implementing, and assessing preparedness Planning emergency and incident management practices Developing position papers, briefing / meeting preparation materials for decision making to support organizational efficiency NOTE: All experience statements (i.e., duties, specialized experience, or related applicable assessment) copied from this announcement and pasted into your resume will not be considered as a demonstration of your qualifications for this position.

You will serve as a/an Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist and be responsible for the work produced by the staff and is responsible for, and manages, the Division budget and provides senior subject matter expertise and technical support for the Coast Guard's Emergency Management Program, including contingency exercises and comprehensive emergency management.

Typical work assignments include: Manages the coordination of preparedness activities, including exercise development Evaluates the adequacy, effectiveness, and thoroughness of contingency exercises and plans Oversees and conducts the development of preparedness assessments and implements measures to address gaps Ensures that standard operational planning protocols and processes are properly executed Oversees meetings and conferences with other Federal agencies, State and local government
