Summary

This job involves leading a team in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives focused on researching arson, explosives, and related intelligence to support law enforcement efforts.

The role requires overseeing staff, setting program goals, and making decisions based on analysis of laws, budgets, and operations.

Full Job Description

Serves as the Chief Arson and Explosives Research and Intelligence Division.

This position manages and is responsible for law enforcement programs, functions or operations encompassing the overall law enforcement mission.

To qualify for this position Supervisory Criminal Investigator at the GS-15 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

Specialized experience must include all of: Working collaboratively with internal and external partners; AND Understanding of ATF's explosives research and development capabilities, including explosives safety, risk assessment, testing, analysis, and report derivation, as well as explosives intelligence responsibilities.

The major duties of the Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Division Chief, Arson and Explosives Research and Intelligence Division) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Exercises full supervisory responsibilities and authority over Division personnel.

Responsible for assessing, developing, and evaluating program goals, needs, operations, and accomplishments. Directs the development of appropriate measurements, techniques and methodologies.

Submits recommendations and decisions that reflect effective analysis of laws and regulations, budgets, strategic plans, current year operating plans, staffing plans, work studies, and other pertinent material
