To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience preparing, changing, and implementing post orders. Experience preparing and maintaining the biweekly and daily assignment rosters.
Experience conducting regularly scheduled instruction and training classes relating to correctional procedures and techniques. Experience preparing annual/quarterly budget for the department.
If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

What are the Major Duties of this Position?
Along with the Captain, serves as an advisor to the Warden and his staff in the formulation and implementation of institution policies, procedures and programs.
Assists in the planning, developing and administering of regulations which ensure strict security and control of inmates in living quarters, work areas, and leisure time activities.
Responsible for assisting the Captain in identifying Correctional Services' staff training needs and recommending appropriate training resources Assists the Captain in developing the budget and specifically assists with preparing the annual and quarterly budget for his/her department.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.
The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
