Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of contract specialists to plan, negotiate, and manage contracts for ship operations and maintenance in the Navy's Military Sealift Command.

You'll oversee recruitment, approve procurement plans, handle contract claims, and advise on complex buying issues.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Contract Specialist in the Directorate, Maritime Operations, Contracts and Business Management Department (N10), Ship Operations Support Division (N105).

of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

(For GS- 14) In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Resume must demonstrate the following specialized experience: Experience applying business and industry practices, sources of supply, cost factors, and requirements characteristics.

Experience utilizing negotiation techniques to conduct contract negotiations and to meet and deal with high-level business, maritime, industrial, and Government officials.

Experience implementing managerial skills to properly supervise the performance of assigned employees.

  • You will supervises the planning, development, and establishment of the contractual strategy for the overall acquisition of the programs
  • You will manages personnel recruitment, including interviewing candidates and making recommendations on selections and promotions.
  • You will approve procurement objectives to be used and approves work statements prior to issuance; approves determinations and findings and solicitation documents
  • You will manage the evaluation and negotiation of all contract claims arising out of the contracts.
  • You will advise staff and line elements on unusual procurement problems in planning, contracting and administration.
