Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Accountability located in Washington, DC.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating and implementing complex administrative programs or significant administrative functions, including performing technical analyses on program goals, objectives, effectiveness, and resource utilization.

Managing a diverse portfolio of complex administrative projects, tracking action items, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure timely completion of deliverables, often under significant deadline pressure.

Advising management and staff on a wide range of administrative matters, including optimizing workflows, balancing workloads, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily office activities within an organizational unit.

Evaluating and reviewing fiscal year budget requirements for an office or program, including advising management on appropriate adjustments to budget plans and contributing to the representation of financial needs.

Leading projects, work groups, or initiatives; developing programs, procedures, or standards; collaborating with leadership; and coaching or mentoring colleagues to achieve organizational goals.

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing Business Enterprise Services Team (BEST), ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as DHS, CBP, and Enterprise Services policies.

In this Supervisory Administrative Officer position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing Business Enterprise Services Team which supports critical department-wide mission and administrative programs within the Executive Secretariat; managing vital administrative functions that include budget oversight, financial operations, and personnel management; ensuring alignment with DHS, CBP, and ES policies; maintaining operational efficiency and meeting critical deadlines; and representing OACT to the Office of Finance, influencing leadership throughout ES regarding budget and staffing requirements.

Typical Work assignments include: Directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing the Business Enterprise Services Team (BEST), a crucial component of the department-wide mission and administrative program within the Executive Secretariat.

Cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships that are critical to the overall success of the organization and expertly managing a diverse portfolio of special projects.

Providing direct supervision to employees, offering guidance and direction to maintain the smooth operation of daily office activities, including adjusting work assignments, optimizing workflows, and balancing workloads as needed to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

Directing the collection, review, and evaluation of OAct's future fiscal year budget requirements, including overseeing the review of program requests and advising management on appropriate adjustments to budget plans.
