Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the maintenance, repair, and modernization of amphibious class ships in the Navy, acting as a technical expert and manager to ensure ships stay ready for operations.

You'll guide teams, plan projects, and solve complex engineering problems throughout a ship's lifecycle.

Key Requirements

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02(GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer providing advice or guidance to plan, execute, or manage ship lifecycle maintenance for the support of the repair, maintenance, or modernization of systems or equipment on Amphibious Class surface ships.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the assigned ship(s) Life-cycle Maintenance Manager for Amphibious Class ships.
  • You will serve as technical expert for ship maintenance and repair requirements.
  • You will review work performance, develop employees, approve leave, set performance requirements, and evaluate performance; conduct periodic performance evaluations and provide annual performance ratings.
  • You will develop plans and techniques to fit new situations to improve overall program and policies.
  • You will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for life-cycle engineering programs, assessments, analysis and initiatives for slow to degrade systems, corrosion programs, and assigned maintenance initiatives.
  • You will act as a principal contributor on team-based projects or coordinate a team project and provide technical oversight and direction.
  • You will guide, motivate, and oversee the activities of individuals and teams with focus on project/ program issues.
  • You will determine developmental and training needs of subordinate personnel.
  • You will identify needed maintenance, plan maintenance requirements, and execute maintenance actions in order to ensure the operational readiness of the ships.
  • Your efforts will improve the advance planning, integration and control procedures required for ship maintenance and repair activities to execute surface ship life-cycle maintenance.
  • You will formulate, execute, advise on, and explain recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques and resolve a wide variety of complex problems.
