Full Job Description

This position for The Defense Information Systems Agency is at Fort Meade, Maryland . This position is with the Office of the Chief of Staff, not with the Director's Office.

This job announcement uses the Subject Matter Expert Panel Assessment to evaluate applicants.

For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience including leading and supervising public affairs programs for a large, complex organization; and the ability to plan, direct, and evaluate communication and media activities in support of the Agency.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Plans, directs, and oversees execution of national campaigns to publicize complex information concerning DISA programs, research on program-related areas, responsibilities, and activities.
  • Advises senior DISA leaders, including the Director, on matters pertaining to public information.
  • Supervises, authorizes, and approves public information activities, to include functions such as coordination and monitoring of media interviews with senior leaders and the preparation of information, media releases, and articles for publication.
  • Directs, establishes, and cultivates mutually beneficial, synergistic working relationships with members of the print, broadcast, and Internet news media, trade publications, associations, and other specialized industry groups.
  • Enforces policies and procedures for implementing DoD Directives governing public affairs activities and oversees compliance with DoD policies governing the clearance and release of information to the public.
