Role Overview:

Iowa PBS is seeking an exceptional Summer 2026 production editorial intern within our production division.

As a production editorial intern, you'll dive into the world of producing original content for Iowa PBS.

You'll work alongside our seasoned producers, videographers, editors, and scenic professionals, developing expertise in the art of researching, writing, interviewing, content acquisition, and editing.

The goal of this internship is to empower you to:

  1. Master Production Techniques: Learn the ins and outs of researching and pitching stories, as well as studio and on-location production skills like scheduling, script writing, and interviewing.
  2. Editing and Post-Production Skills: Hone your editing skills using industry-standard software, transforming raw footage into polished, engaging content that captivates our audiences.
  3. Creative Storytelling: Develop your ability to craft compelling narratives, translating ideas into captivating visual stories that educate and inspire.
  4. Team Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse team of professionals, refining your collaboration, communication, and project management skills in a real-world broadcast environment.
  5. Problem Solving: Encounter and overcome challenges unique to the world of media production, cultivating a problem-solving mindset that will serve you well in any future endeavor.
  6. Audience Engagement: Gain insights into audience preferences and engagement strategies, helping you understand how to connect with viewers on a deeper level.

In addition, you can expect to assist with our ongoing series Iowa Life and Road Trip Iowa, as well as some incredible special projects like the Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops concert, and the Iowa State Fair!
