Requirements

Facilitate orientations and workshops. This includes:

  • Conduct group and individual orientations, and workshops, supply program specific information about services, benefits, and eligibility
  • Facilitate job preparation activities to include job club services and workshops; provide labor market information
  • Create and provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabus. Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.

Develop and/or provide comprehensive, customer-centered employment and training services. This includes:

  • Conduct individual interviews to articulate program services and activities; identify components applicable to customer need; develop recommendations for continuous engagement
  • Manage caseload; provide case management; facilitate appropriate support services and/or make referrals; identify and evaluate barriers and explore solutions to assist in removing barriers; assist in obtaining needed documentation
  • Determine eligibility and/or appropriateness for program; enroll and explain program participation requirements; develop employment and training contracts and agreements based on applicable regulations, customer eligibility and assessment

Assess knowledge, skills, and abilities to assist in determining employment and training activities and benefits. This includes:

  • Administer a variety of assessments and informal and formal career tools; review and explain results; incorporate assessment results into employment plans in conjunction with relevant labor market information; prepare and present information to customer
  • Develop and utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of students, including the integration of technology, and guest speakers

Qualifications

One year as a WorkSource Specialist 3 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or another state’s Employment Security agency

OR A Bachelor's degree in social science, business administration or related field and three years of professional level experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or professional public contact work

OR A combination of education and/or relevant experience equal to 7 years

The Required Experience Includes:

  • Client-Centered Service Delivery: Needs assessment to evaluate client situations, goal setting to establish realistic objectives, case management to develop and oversee service plans, problem-solving to address barriers, and communication skills to guide and support clients effectively.
  • Employment Needs Assessment Expertise: Ability to identify workforce gaps through in-depth counseling. Barrier Resolution Skills: Proficiency in determining employment obstacles.
  • Career Coaching and Follow-Up Expertise: Ability to provide ongoing workforce guidance. Post-Employment Support Skills: Proficiency in assisting clients with workplace transitions.
  • Employability Plan Development Expertise: Ability to structure personalized career growth strategies. Collaboration Skills: Proficiency in working with service providers for coordinated support.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage evolving workforce service responsibilities. Problem-Solving Skills: Proficiency in addressing challenges in job placement support.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Expertise: Ability to maintain fair and accessible workforce programs. Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Proficiency in applying nondiscrimination policies.
